Biography
With a rich and sensual timbre, an expressive vocal line, and a strong stage presence, Grazia Liotta is developing a distinctive artistic path that combines musical discipline with human depth.
An Italian-Swiss mezzo-soprano, she first pursued a career in the medical field, specializing in early breast cancer detection between Italy and Switzerland, before fully dedicating herself to opera. This unusual background now informs a deeply embodied artistic approach.
After early experiences in pop and folk music, she turned to classical repertoire, studying music theory at the Geneva Conservatory and training at the Scuola Musicale di Milano. She is currently refining her technique and repertoire in New York with Bill Schuman, while deepening her interpretative work with Alexandre Paita and Marco Savatteri.
She has performed the role of Carmen in Milan (Adads, 2023) and in Quintessence of Carmen in Martigues (2025), where her interpretation was praised by the French press. She has also appeared in Suor Angelica in Sarzana and as Cherubino in La Spezia.
In 2021, she performed a recital with orchestra at the National Philharmonic Theatre of Kyiv, featuring Verdi and Donizetti, where critics highlighted the quality of her voice, described as “richly colored and sensual.”
She was a semifinalist at the Premier Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition in New York (2024–2025) and was awarded First Prize at the Tiziano Rossetti International Music Competition in 2026.
Grazia Liotta currently continues her artistic development between Europe and New York, with a strong focus on theatrical expression and authenticity in performance.
